Ferdinand Schmidt Nuremberg Vintage Albumen Print ASP61-7

Exceptional large, 10 1/2"h x 8 1/2"w (26 x 21 cm), albumen photograph by Ferdinand Schmidt (1840-1909). It shows the rear courtyard of a church in Nuremberg and what is most likely the rectory, or a school associated with the church. In the courtyard is a charming well with a shingled roof, a statue of the Virgin and Child on a base, and to the right is a row of Romanesque columns, which might very well be the remnants of an earlier cloister. Blindstamp to lower left corner reads; "Ferdinand Schmidt, Nürnberg". Photo circa 1890. Attached to a slightly larger black card mount. Slight bow to mount. Else, photo in fine condition with beautiful toning and detail. $105.00

Ferdinand Schmidt Nuremberg Vintage Albumen Print ASP62-7

Exceptional large, 8 1/2"h x 10"w (21 x 26 cm), albumen photograph of the "Kaiserstallung", with adjoining walls and gardens, Nuremberg. One of three major complexes of the Imperial castle, it was created in the late 15th century by joining two existing towers. Originally it was used as a cereal storehouse, but takes its name from the fact that the emperor's horses and carriages were kept here during frequent visits. No discernable blind stamps, but photo by Ferdinand Schmidt (1840-1909). Photo circa 1870. Attached to a slightly larger black card card mount. Slight bow to mount. Else, photo in fine condition with beautiful toning and detail. James Valentine Vintage Albumen Print , Natural History Museum, London ASP63-7

Superb albumen photograph, 7 1/2"h x 11 1/2"w (19 x 29 cm), from the studio of James Valentine of the Natural History Museum, London. Begun in 1873, the museum opened to the public in 1881, after plans by Francis Fowke and Alfred Waterhouse. Titled, numbered and initialed in the negative; "Natural History Museum. Kensington. London. 5604 J.V." Photo circa 1885. Attached to a cream card mount 10 1/2"h 13 1/2"w. Faint oval ink bleed through from purveyor's stamp just above main portal. Else, in fine condition with beautiful sepia toning. $75.00

Camposanto, Genova A. Noack Vintage Albumen Print ASP64-7

Large albumen photograph, 8 1/2"h x 11"w (21 x 28 cm), of the Camposanto in Genoa by Alfredo Noack (1833-1895). Laid out in the third quarter of the 19th century, the Camposanto lies along the banks of the Bisagno river framed by mountains. Numbered "79" in the negative and titled and credited in a thin strip at bottom edge of photo; "Genova. Camposanto. A. Noack. Genova." Photo circa 1880. Notice the laundry drying on the riverbank. Mounted to a beige card board 11"h x 14"w. Photo in fine, clean condition with great clarity. Some foxing to verso of mount.$55.00

Beautiful, large albumen photograph, 9"h x 11"w (23 x 28 cm), of Paris taken from the Louvre by A. C. Champagne (active 1880's -1890's). In this panorama is visible Notre Dame, the Panthéon and in the center foreground the old Pont du Carrousel, replaced in the 1930's by a new structure. Numbered and titled in the negative; "337. Paris. La Seine et la Citee. (Prise du Louvre)". Oval blindstamp in lower left corner reads; "A. C. Champagne, 180 Rue de Rivoli, Paris". Photo circa 1890. Mounted to a cream card board 11"h x 14"w. Photo in near fine condition with one small patch of foxing to upper right edge. Mount slightly bowed with some wear. $105.00

Lovely albumen photograph, 8 1/4"h x 10 3/4"w (21 x 27 cm), of the Palace of Fontainebleau, France by J. Kuhn (active last quarter of the 19th century). Numbered and titled in the negative; "650. Palais de Fontainebleau-La Cour des Adieux". Notice the wooden guard houses. Blind stamp in lower right corner reads; "J. Kuhn, 220 Rue de Rivoli, Paris". Mounted to a cream board 11"h x 14"w. Mount (and photo) creased at lower center. Slight bow to mount. Else, photo clean and unmarked with good toning. $60.00

Alinari Vintage Albumen Panorama of Rome ASP69-7

Beautiful albumen photograph, 7 3/4"h x 9 3/4"w (20 x 25 cm), panorama of Rome by Fratelli Alinari. Numbered and titled in a thin strip at lower edge of photo; "6962. ROMA-Panorama della Città visto dalla Cupola di S. Pietro". Photo circa 1885, print date circa 1905. One can see the Via della Conciliazione filled with buildings. This is the street that leads from St. Peter's Square to the Castel Sant'Angelo, and which was cleared beginning in the 1930's to create the wide boulevard that is there today. Mounted to a cream card board 11"h x 14"w. Mount slightly bowed with a touch of soiling. Else, photo in fine condition. $75.00

Albumen photograph, 7 3/4"h x 9 3/4"w (20 x 25 cm), of the Basilica of Saint Paul, Rome by Fratelli Alinari. Numbered and titled in a thin strip at lower edge of photo; "5887. ROMA-Basilica di S. Paolo fuori le Mura. L'interno". Photo circa 1885, print date circa 1905. The Basilica di San Paolo is the burial place of St. Paul the Apostle. Mounted to a cream card board 11"h x 14"w.
